Welcome to the website for Principles and Methods of Geographic Information Science (SOC 1871F). This course is about cartography and geography – its a course designed to teach you new skills and new ways about thinking about complex problems, especially problems that have a spatial or environmental dimension. This new website is sort of an experiment in creating living syllabus- it will provide you with information about the course and will hopefully be a useful supplement to our in class discussions. The “about the course” page contains most of the information you’d expect to find in a syllabus including info on the textbook, course objectives, and the material we cover in class.
